About Practice
I am Rose, mother of four, wife, certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, founder of
move & able.
My first born, and only son was deprived of oxygen at birth, resulting in an acquired brain injury, and subsequent diagnosis of cerebral palsy. Thus initiated our journey with The Feldenkrais Method, and later my training to become a practitioner.
The Feldenkrais Method gave my son a movement education, the possibility for new-pattern forming, in a mis-firing nervous system, and resulted in functional gain after functional gain, an emotional stability and cognitive growth beyond any prognosis labelled upon him.
I witnessed over the past 14 years how through trained touch, movement, guided imagery and mindful body awareness, movement and function can be learned, and possibilities across all aspects of life are opened.
I saw first hand that learning is made possible if the nervous system has minimal stimulation, an overall uniformed muscular tonus is established, someone feels safe, is met where they are at, is curious and has agency; allowing the dispatch, passage and arrival of neural impulses to reach the intended musculature destination, rather than being hijacked and misfiring.
It becomes a process of integrating your intentions, your movements, into the actions you want, for greater functional freedom, to ultimately do the things you love with ease and enjoyment every day.
