About the event
"The age of Anthropocene, the age defined by the human effect, could be the age that ends us. The predictions are ever more dire, with ever more consensus. We live amidst tipping points teetering around us. We race against time, competing needs and an insatiable demand, for more, more, more.
In this tension our senses are heightened and we are frightened, we protect ourselves with distraction, desensitation. but are never far from the clamour and roar. We're more connected than ever and simultaneously more alone. We harden up to feel less and end up hurting more. We live in a paradox.
This is the eco-crisis in which we find ourselves. If ever there was a time for us to re-connect to the ground beneath our feet it is now."
Feeling safe in the world is a product of being able to trust that which surrounds us- the people, the places, the powers that be. But amidst the shifting ground, of the world out there it is increasingly hard to know what to trust. To live at the effect of such uncertainty has unleashed a tsunami of fear and an avalanche of illness.
We make assessments on the  trustworthiness of the outer world and these assessments determine the nature of our inner world. But what if we were to look at it another way, what if the comfort derived from trust could be self generated? A soft warding glow from within, what then would we make of a world lit in such a way?
Eco-somatica is an embodied, intellectual, emotional, sensory experience. It involves sound bath sensory immersion, guided movement, narrative and the use of story, and incorporates Feldenkrais Method ® Awareness Through Movement ® lessons that build sensory awareness and assist with becoming more sensitive to the way we make contact with the ground.
Open to the public, practitioners and trainees. First FIG attendance is FREE! Â
