About the event
Are Judo rolls all that Moshe bought from the martial arts into his Method ?
Prior to creating his own Method, Moshe had extensive experience and knowledge in the martial arts. His first book “Unarmed Combat” was written when he lived in Palestine and was first published in England in 1942. This book was pivotal in him commencing his study and training in Judo.
What did Moshe learn from Judo that he integrated into his Method? In this session through her lens as a martial artist Ruth will explore this question. You will discover philosophical ideas and underlying movement principles that Moshe found in Judo and included in his work. Together with Ruth you will discuss how you are using these ideas in your Feldenkrais work and how you could further explore their application in your ATM and FI teaching.
Ruth Frommer
Ruth’s curiosity on how Moshe’s embodied knowledge of Judo influenced his Method was sparked during her FPTP. On graduating as a practitioner she started training in Aikido Takemusu. For over 30 years Ruth has explored the underpinnings of martial principles and self organisation and how they apply to the Feldenkrais Method.
Currently Ruth conducts her private Feldenkrais Practice, works as an Assistant Trainer and teaches Aikido.
