Tanya is a caring and passionate Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Registered Occupational Therapist. She graduated from Curtin, W. Australia, in Occupational Therapy in Feb 1991. She was introduced to the Feldenkrais Method, Awareness Through Movement (ATM), whilst undertaking her undergraduate training. Her curiosity was further developed as a new graduate when exploring interventions to help her vocational rehabilitation clients with their back pain and physical injuries. She qualified with a Master's by Research from Curtin in 1996 on “The Functional Benefits of the Feldenkrais Method for Persons with Low Back Pain”. In 1999 she completed the Feldenkrais Method training in Lewes, England to help adults find greater ease in moving through everyday life and in their chosen activities. Tanya continues to maintain her currency and fuel her thirst for learning by attending regular professional Feldenkrais workshops and training, undertaking ATM lessons, and receiving individual FI lessons, as well as undertaking Occupational Therapy continuing professional development.

Over the last 30 years, The Feldenkrais Method has informed and been combined with her occupational therapy practice working with adults; especially in elderly and stroke rehabilitation in a range of hospital and community settings both in Australia and England; supported her academic teaching; and helped with personal recovery from surgery and sporting injuries.  The Method has provoked her curiosity, inspired, and guided her in helping clients discover how “to make the impossible possible, the possible easy, the easy elegant…"(Moshe Feldenkrais) by utilizing their brain plasticity to learn new patterns of action, and enabling movement and everyday functioning with increased ease, grace, and efficiency.

In Western Australia, Tanya, runs Function Through Life, and offers a weekly general ATM class (Present 10-week block: 26 March - 28 May 2024) on Tuesday mornings 9:30-10:30am at Fremantle PCYC, individual FI lessons in Willagee, and limited individual FI home visits. She also offers individual mobile occupational therapy services for people with stroke and/or acquired brain injury upper limb neurological disability.
