My name is Judith Pugh. I am a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and a registered nurse. I have practiced the Feldenkrais Method® for more than 15 years to manage my own back problems from an injury while nursing. The Method gives me insight into my habits of movement and posture, and the skills to move and function comfortably and confidently.
I started teaching regular Awareness Through Movement® classes in 2016, and completed my 4-year Feldenkrais Professional Training in 2017. (I am a graduate of the Perth 3 Feldenkrais Professional Training Program, 2017.)
I strive to help adults explore and transform their habitual patterns of movement in order to make everyday activities easier and improve their well-being. My clients are mainly mature-aged women, many of whom work in, or have worked in, health care and social services jobs.
My nursing background informs my approach to teaching the Feldenkrais Method®. I respect your individuality and recognise that you are the expert in your experience of your life. I will encourage you to let go of self-expectations and those of others. I trust that you will work out what is right for you. The Feldenkrais Method® is about ongoing learning. So I will give you time to explore movement at your own pace to promote your capacity for self-discovery and choice.
In my other role as a nurse researcher, I have investigated and published on nurses' fitness and musculoskeletal health. My publications also include qualitative research on people's use of the Feldenkrais Method® to manage their chronic back pain.
For the remainder of 2021, I am running private Awareness Through Movement® classes for nurses as part of a workplace health and wellbeing program.
