I see people for private Feldenkrais appointments as well as teach online classes and in-person classes.
I have been running my own Feldenkrais practice in Canberra since 2001. I work with a range of people of different ages, from young children through to those in their 80s and 90s and everyone in between. Over the past 20 years I have run specific workshops in a variety of workplaces. I have also run public workshops in Feldenkrais pelvic floor health for women, workshops for singers and workshops for cyclists.
I first came to Feldenkrais in the 1980s when my interest was sparked doing Awareness Through Movement classes. Over time I noticed curious things such as when I’d drive home after a lesson, I’d need to adjust the mirror as I seemed taller… maybe those movements we did weren’t just about my shoulders as something had changed in my spine, my length. Over time, more ‘aha’ moments like this led me to becoming a practitioner. After doing my Feldenkrais training I also did the Bones for Life training.
A strong thread in my Feldenkrais philosophy has come from my previous work in childcare teaching and my understanding of child development. How children learn to roll, sit and stand is fundamental to movement in Feldenkrais. This relates to our everyday actions in walking, sitting, bending to the floor, reaching up and so much more.
I have an interest in working with people who have post-traumatic stress (PTS), surgery recovery, as well as working with people at end of life. In my practice I see the huge potential in how people can recover from injury. Others find benefit from their growing awareness of how they move in everyday life. They notice that their movements become easier, more fluid, lighter. I’m inspired by seeing people focus on their health and improve their wellbeing.
