Julia’s passion for helping individuals improve their wellbeing has been the key thread of her professional life, both in her work as a physiotherapist and as a Feldenkrais practitioner.
Practising as a physiotherapist since the 70’s, Julia completed her Feldenkrais training in 1997 and has been using the Feldenkrais Method in her work since then. She finds this unique approach to learning is especially valuable for enabling people to discover their own capacity for making positive change and find greater ease and agility in how they move.
She works with people who wish to learn and improve their ability to engage in everyday activities with ease. This includes those who are recovering from injury, neurological challenges and chronic pain, those who wish to overcome effects of anxiety and those wanting to improve their performance in various fields of activity.
As people develop greater awareness of their embodied self in movement, they begin to recognise that it is possible to experience pleasure and ability in everyday activities that have been difficult or impossible.
“Make the impossible possible, the possible easy, and the easy elegant.”
“Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.” Moshe Felcenkrais
As well as being a Certified Feldenkrais practitioner and physiotherapist, Julia is qualified to teach Mindfulness meditation, certified by Meditation Australia. In her experience, meditation can be a helpful extra strategy in learning to overcome the effects of anxiety. She has found that Feldenkrais and meditation complement each other beautifully, and explores this interrelationship in her workshops.
Currently Julia has a private practice in Abbotsford, at the Abbotsford Convent, where she sees people for individual sessions, runs weekly classes and one-day workshops throughout the year.
