Louise has extensive experience in working with both children and adults. She specialises in early intervention supporting children’s learning, guiding children to find ways of moving forward in their self- development. Our language of early development includes touch, movement and face-to-face communication to organise the primary developmental pathways. This wakes up the brain to new learning.
Many are aware of the Feldenkrais Method for enhancing one’s experience of moving as an adult. Less well known is the immense value of this approach for babies and young children with special needs or for children with postural issues limiting their movement skills.
As well as being a Feldenkrais practitioner, Louise trained in Chava Shelhav’s Child’Space Method for developmental monitoring to assist infants from newborn to independent walking and to help parents understand and actively participate in their child’s development through the early stages and beyond.
Our approach focuses on gentle and playful movement using delicate and direct touch to engage the child’s brain to evoke new connections. This helps to develop a more complete sensory image of the embodied self and leads to breakthroughs in moving and overall improved function.
“The stages of early development and the effects of delayed development leading to missing pieces in the developmental puzzle can have repercussions on aspects of a person’s life.” Dr. Chava Shelhav : refer to www.childspacemethod.com
