Biomechanics of Us with Dr Susan Hillier - Adelaide 22 & 23rd Oct 2011
The Biomechanics of Us with Dr Susan Hillier
We are (amongst other things) an amazing biological moving system. We are both a sum of our parts AND we are greater than the sum of our parts.
In this workshop we will look at “the parts”; how they connect directly and how they connect indirectly; how our parts are influenced by our environment and therefore how we can navigate through and in our environment. We will explore some big words like joints and moments, kinematic chains, planes of action and axes of rotation, gravity and our base(s) of support.
Please come prepared for self-exploration, ATM, discussion, FI and play. The props needed are a blanket, table, stool, rollers, and a set of blocks. Yes you read correctly – please bring a set of building blocks, lego or wooden or whatever stacks up. Leave behind any seriousness or fear of technical stuff – this will be fun.
