FELDENKRAIS
At The Mind & Its Potential Conference
2– 3 December 2009, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre
www.mindanditspotential.com.au

The AFG Inc. NSW Division committee has funded an exhibition stand at the Sydney-based Mind and its Potential conference. The contracts have been signed and it's full steam ahead to present the Feldenkrais Method to a new audience.

Here's an excerpt from the conference description:

Science is only just beginning to understand the extraordinary capacity of the brain to change and develop. The implications for how we learn, work and care for one another are profound. Mind & Its Potential will explore the amazing revolution in our understanding of the brain and the benefits for all walks of life -both personal and professional.

How do we learn? How should we teach? How do we overcome adversity and disability? How should we live our lives?

Mind & Its Potential brings together for the first time the best and brightest minds from Australia and internationally to explain how to apply the new science of the brain in education, medicine, business and our lives.

International keynote speakers include: His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Dr Martin Seligman,
Dr Paul Ekman, Baroness Susan Greenfield, Marc Hauser, Dr. John J. Ratey, Dr Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, and B. Alan Wallace.

With speakers like these conference organisers expect over 3,000 delegates. That's a lot of people who can see, try out, and get information about the Feldenkrais Method.

The range of professions organisers expect include: Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychotherapists, Nurses, Counsellors, Coaches Mental Health workers, Human Resource Managers, Neuroscientists, Business Executives, Medical Doctors, School Principals, Teachers, Community & Youth Workers - basically all professions interested in understanding and developing the potential of the mind.

What we are offering.
Our exhibition stand will operate for both conference days.
At our sleek looking stand conference delegates can:

And...
We are also offering two 15 minute movement sessions.
These will be held in the main hall, as part of the conference 'Mindfest', and will be open to all interested delegates.

And...
Delegates will be able to follow-up their interest by visiting our 'Mind In Action' blogsite.

EASY WALKING - Do you avoid walking?
Ollie Black
2008-04-03

Would you like to walk with more ease and comfort?

‘Easy Walking’ is a project, initiated by the South Australian Branch of the Feldenkrais Guild, aimed at encouraging gentle, enjoyable physical movement and increased fitness for people who, because of movement restrictions and/or high pain levels, rarely participate in physical activity.

‘Easy Walking’ Classes will run until December 2008 at these locations:
Adelaide SouthWest Community Centre;
Adelaide Hills Community Health Service;
Coromandel Community Centre;
Clarence Park Community Centre;
Dale Street Women’s Health Centre, Port Adelaide;
Unley Citizens Centre.

Through a series of ten lessons in the Feldenkrais Method®, including the opportunity to participate in a walking group (beginning with short distances), ‘Easy Walking’ participants will discover the pleasurable benefits of gentle movement as a healthy alternative to a sedentary lifestyle and secondary illnesses caused by physical inaction.

These classes are reasonably priced to make them accessible. Bookings are essential. All participants will receive a complimentary CD recording of the Feldenkrais lessons taught during the series so their learning and enjoyment can be on-going.

For further information, please contact the South Australian Branch of
The Feldenkrais Guild: 0419 805 856

This project has been generously supported by the Australian Government’s, Healthy Active Australia program (Department of Health and Ageing) and The Unley Council.
